Sands of the Sahara Desert, Morocco

Erg Chebbi (Arabic: عرق الشبي‎) is one of Morocco’s two Saharan Ergs, which are sand or dune seas –  a large sea of dunes formed by wind-blown sand. The dunes of Erg Chebbi reach a height of up to 150 meters and span an area of 50 kilometers from north to south and up to 5–10 kilometers from east to west lining the Algerian border. Sand Lovers can start an overnight camel trip into the desert from the small town of Merzouga, which is located just at the edge of the dunes. It is quite an experience to ride on a camel for hours and hours across miles and miles of the spectacular desert landscape to see an oasis rising from the sandy middle of nowhere. Until a sandstorm hits you.
